چکیده

Surface sensitivity in the soil X-ray absorption spectroscopy by the fluorescent X-ray yield detection under grazing exit condition is discussed. It is experimentally demonstrated at Si K-edge that the sampling depth can be controlled by changing exit angles in the vicinity of the critical angle for total reflection.

Introducing Ionic-Current Detection for X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy in Liquid Cells.

Photons and electrons are two common relaxation products upon X-ray absorption, enabling fluorescence yield and electron yield detections for X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The ions that are created during the electron yield process are relaxation products too, which are exploited in this study to produce ion yield for XA detection. The ionic currents measured in a liquid cell filled with...

State-dependent electron delocalization dynamics at the solute-solvent interface: soft-x-ray absorption spectroscopy and ab initio calculations.

Nonradiative decay channels in the L-edge fluorescence yield spectra from transition-metal-aqueous solutions give rise to spectral distortions with respect to x-ray transmission spectra. Their origin is unraveled here using partial and inverse partial fluorescence yields on the microjet combined with multireference ab initio electronic structure calculations. Comparing Fe2+, Fe3+, and Co2+ syst...

Intrinsic deviations in fluorescence yield detected x-ray absorption spectroscopy: the case of the transition metal L2,3 edges

Fluorescence yield (FY) detected x-ray absorption spectra (XAS) of 3d transition metal ions are calculated from the integrated 2p3d resonant x-ray emission spectra. The resulting FY-XAS spectra are compared with the normal XAS spectra corresponding to the absorption cross section and significant deviations between the two spectra are found. This implies that the assumption that the FY-XAS spect...

Partial Fluorescence Yield XAFS Measurements in Soft X-ray Region Using a Large-Area Silicon Drift Detector

X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectra in the soft X-ray region are obtained in the electron and fluorescence yield modes, which are sensitive to surface and bulk, respectively. A micro-channel plate (MCP) can be used as the detector for the total fluorescence yield (TFY) method by applying a sufficiently high negative bias to a grid in front of the MCP. However, this method often suffe...
